The Goals Are The Same For Kennesaw State In 2022… “Win A Championship”

Kennesaw State is fresh off their 2021 Big South Conference Championship, but will face new challenges as the Owls move the ASUN for the 2022 season. The Owls won 3 Big South championships over their seven seasons in the conference and have made 4 FCS Playoff appearances, including two quarterfinal appearances.

Head coach Brian Bohannon spoke with Zach McKinnell of The Bluebloods at ASUN Media Day in Atlanta, GA about the expectations for the Owls entering the 2022 season:

“We have three goals in our program. They have been the same since Day 1… Win at home, win the conference, and win the National Championship. Those are our three goals. They are the same every year. I think it is exciting being in a new conference with some new challenges and new teams. I think at the end of the day the preseason is the preseason and we’re trying to finish the right way and and finish #1. I think that is the most important thing.”

Bohannon also spoke about some players that have stood throughout spring & summer workouts for the Owls:

“I think our defensive line led by Travis Bell. We feel like we have a two-deep up front with Joelle Parker, Desmond Scott, and Travis Bell that we feel like is very talented. I think they’re going to have a really good year. I think on the offensive side we are going to have some running backs that are going to show up and some wide receivers that are going to show up. (Iaan) Cousin has done some really good things. Isaac Foster, who has been an unbelievable player for us, is back. I think there’s going to be some really good thing that show up as the season goes. I think at linebacker Garland Benyard had a really good freshman year. We’re looking for some guys to step up inside and solidify some things on the backend.”

Kennesaw State opens the 2022 season on the road against Samford on September 1st before traveling to face defending AAC champions Cincinnati in Week 2. Our full interview with Kennesaw State head coach Brian Bohannon can be found on YouTube and any podcast streaming platform.
