Fordham is entering the 2022 season with aspirations of winning their first Patriot League Championship since 2014. The defense struggled at times last season as the Rams ranked last in the Patriot League in Total Defense and 6th in Scoring Defense. The secondary received a major upgrade in former Temple defensive back Garrett Williams as he announced his commitment to the Rams on social media.

Garrett was a 3-star prospect out of Suffolk, VA in the class of 2020 and ranked as a Top-75 player in the state of Virginia. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound defensive back had a breakout sophomore season, but a broken leg kept him sidelined for his entire junior season. Garrett helped King’s Fork High School win the Southeastern District Championship as a freshman. He announced his commitment to Temple before his senior season over East Carolina and Elon.
Garrett saw action as a true freshman for the Owls and was named to the AAC All-Academic Team. Over his two seasons for the Owls Garrett saw action in 8 games and was named a two-time Scout Team Player of the Week. He announced his transfer from Temple in April after the conclusion of spring practices. Garrett will have four years of eligibility left for the Rams.
Fordham returns multiple top contributors in the secondary from last season, but did lose Jesse Bramble this offseason. Nasir McNair, Brandon Spencer, Stephen Williams II, & Anthony Tony-Itoyah all return for the Rams next season. Garrett will join 2021 Mountain West League Defensive Player of the Year Nicholas Pasquarella as new faces in the secondary this offseason. The secondary for Fordham is primed to be one of the most improved units going into the 2022 season.
Fordham opens their 2022 season with a road matchup against Wagner on September 1st before facing the newest CAA member Monmouth on September 10th.
