Oywak announced his commitment to Washington State over offers from Arizona, Oregon State, Boise State, and Nevada. He redshirted his freshman season at Washington State after only appearing in one game against USC. He saw action against Utah State in the 2021 season and totaled 3 tackles, but did not see action the rest of the season.
