ETSU DL Rodney Wright Jr. Transfers To Eastern Kentucky
Former East Tennessee State defensive lineman Rodney Wright Jr. announced his transfer to Eastern Kentucky. He has two years of eligibility remaining at Eastern Kentucky.
Wright led the defensive line in tackles last season and was named the Player of the Week against Chattanooga. He finished the season with 35 total tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss, 10 quarterback hurries and one defensive touchdown.
Wright signed with East Tennessee State in 2019 out of Clarke Central High School. He was named first-team All-Region and won a state championship in track & field. He finished his senior season with 79 total tackles, 11 tackles for loss, four sacks and 11 quarterback hurries.
UNA LB Christon Taylor Announces Commitment To Jackson State
Former North Alabama and Tennessee State linebacker Christon Taylor announced his commitment to Jackson State on Monday. He will have one year of eligibility remaining for the Tigers.
Taylor only saw action in one game last season for Tennessee State. At North Alabama, Taylor was an All-Conference performer for the Lions as the program transitioned from Division II to the FCS level.
As a true freshman, Taylor was named the Gulf South Conference (GSC) Defensive Freshman of the Year and earned GSC first-team All-Conference honors. He finished his career at North Alabama with 157 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss, five sacks and three interceptions.
FAMU DL Kamari Stephens Enters Transfer Portal
Florida A&M defensive lineman Kamari Stephens announced his entry into the transfer portal on Monday. Stephens is a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining.
Stephens earned SWAC first-team All-Conference honors last season. He had a breakout season in 2022 with 12.5 tackles loss and 10 sacks with four forced fumbles. Stephens led the conference in sacks and finished top-10 in tackles for loss last season.
He signed with Florida A&M out of Sandalwood High School in 2019. Stephens received interest from multiple FBS programs out of high school, including Miami, Virginia, NC State and Florida International.
BCU DB Uriah Ratliff Enters Transfer Portal
Bethune-Cookman defensive back Uriah Ratliff announced his entry into the transfer portal on April 29. Ratliff will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next program.
Ratliff was a major contributor for the Wildcats in 2022. He finished the season with 63 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception and one forced fumble. Over his three seasons, Ratliff finished with 98 total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, one interception, three pass breakups and two forced fumbles.
He was the highest-graded defensive back against the run, according to Pro Football Focus. Ratliff had one of the lowest missed tackle percentages in the conference (6.9%) and had a 90.1 run defense grade.
