Former Temple LB Audley Isaacs Transfers To Tarleton State

Tarleton State is coming into the 2022 season as a dark horse for the WAC Championship after a strong 6-5 season in only their 2nd season at the FCS level. The defense for the Texans was a strong point in 2021 after leading the WAC in passing defense and having the 3rd best scoring defense in the conference. Tarleton State is looking to reload at multiple positions on the defensive side of the ball and landed an immediate contributor in former Temple linebacker Audley Isaacs.

Isaacs was a 3-star prospect out of Philadelphia, PA and ranked as a Top-150 linebacker in the class of 2017. The 6-foot-1, 220-pound linebacker was named the BAL Defensive Player of the Year after totaling over 130 tackles as a senior in 2016. Over his three seasons at Valley Forge Military Academy Isaacs had over 350 total tackles and was named 1st Team All-Bicentennial Athletic League selection at both the linebacker and running back position. Isaacs committed to the Owls in July of 2016 and had interest from programs including UConn, Army, West Virginia, & Rutgers.

Isaacs redshirted his first season in 2017 for the Owls and saw limited action throughout the 2018-2019 seasons. In 2020 Isaacs was primed to be a top contributor for the Owls after totaling 8 tackles and a fumble recovery against Memphis, but then suffered a season-ending injury later in the game. Over his career at Temple, Isaacs totaled 28 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. Isaacs will have one year of eligibility left as a graduate transfer for the Texans.

Isaacs will bring experience and talent to a LB room that lost Ronnell Wilson and Chadwick Thibodeaux this offseason. The Texans return D.J. Harris who led the Texans in tackles last season and Zach Strong at the linebacker position to pair with Isaacs.

The Texans have been extremely active on the recruiting trail this offseason and have reloaded on both sides of the football. Tarleton State opens the 2022 season against Mississippi Valley State on September 1st as they pursue their 1st WAC Championship.
