Mike Minter and his staff at Campbell have done an excellent job on the recruiting trail in both the Class of 2022 and Class of 2023. The Camels landed another major commitment from 3-star ATH Dane Reed who announced his commitment to the Camels on social media Wednesday morning.

Reed is a consensus 3-star prospect out of Inglewood, CA in the Class of 2023. Reed ranks as a Top-120 ATH in the country and a Top-125 player in the State of California. The 5-foot-10, 175-pound athlete plays both running back and defensive back for Inglewood High School. Reed totaled 500 rushing yards, 10 total touchdowns, and averaged over 7 yards per carry as a junior. Reed also totaled 45 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 3 interceptions, and 9 pass breakups last season on the defensive side of the ball.
Reed announced his commitment to Campbell over offers from Minnesota and Southern Miss. He projects as a defensive back at Campbell, which adds to an already loaded secondary with 4-star Myles Rowser and 3-star Eric Weldon. Reed does an excellent job at tracking the ball in the air and has the athleticism to compete with the top wide receivers in the country. He can excel in multiple different schemes and could be used in various roles throughout the Campbell secondary.
The 2023 recruiting class for Campbell now ranks 89th in the country and is the #1 FCS recruiting class in the country. Reed joins his teammate 3-star defensive back Makhi Connor as defensive commitments for the Camels in the Class of 2023. The Camels are on pace to have the highest rated recruiting class in school history as we enter August.
