North Dakota State has continued their strong momentum for the Class of 2023 this summer. The Bison have landed twelve commitments in the months of June and July after entering those months with only one commitment for their 2023 class. The latest commitment comes from quarterback Trey Drake who announced his commitment to the Bison on Sunday morning on social media.

Drake is a two-sport standout at Jamestown High School in Jamestown, NY. The 6-foot-3, 195-pound quarterback was an All-League selection as a freshman and was nominated for the Connolly Cup, which is given to the most outstanding football player in western New York. He led both the football and basketball teams to the New York State Final 4, while also being named a Post-Journal Observer 1st Team All Star in basketball. Drake has totaled over 3,414 passing yards, 39 passing TDs, and 2 rushing touchdowns over his first three seasons at Jamestown. He completed over 62% of his passes this season and has a career QB rating of 114.6 as the starting quarterback at Jamestown. He was invited to the All-New York Prep Showcase and this season accepted his invite to the All-Northeast Spotlight.
Drake announced his commitment only three days after the Bison extended an official offer on July 7th. He received Junior Day invites from multiple FBS and FCS programs including West Virginia, Marshall, Buffalo, Holy Cross, and Stony Brook. He recently visited Delaware in April and also held interest from Pittsburgh and James Madison.
The Bison now hold 13 commitments in the class of 2023 and currently have a Top-3 class in the FCS recruiting rankings according to 247Sports. Head coach Matt Entz and the Bison staff have done an excellent job recruiting around the country as the Bison hold commitments from players in eight different states. The Bison also hold commitments from four 3-star prospects right now and could be primed to break the school record for most 3-star prospects in a single class.
