Missouri State is coming into the 3rd season of the Bobby Petrino era and have big expectations in 2022 after back-to-back FCS Playoff appearances. The offense for the Bears was a strong point last season after averaging almost 300 yards passing per game, which ranked 2nd in the Missouri Valley conference. The Bears added another weapon to an already loaded wide receiving room today as former Minnesota wide receiver Larry Wright III announced his commitment to Missouri State.

Wright was a standout at Eastview Senior High out of Apple Valley, MN in the class of 2019. The 6-foot-4, 220-pound wide receiver totaled 59 catches for over 900 yards receiving and 8 touchdowns over his last two seasons at the high school level. Wright was selected as a 1st Team All-Conference wide receiver as a senior, while also being selected as an All-Conference honorable mention as a junior. Wright held offers from North Dakota State and South Dakota along with multiple PWO offers from FBS programs, but decided to commit to Minnesota as a preferred walk-on.
Wright did not see much action throughout his three seasons at Minnesota and redshirted his freshman season in 2018 for the Gophers. He was selected as an Academic All-Big Ten selection in both 2020 and 2021. Wright will have three years eligibility left at Missouri State.
Missouri State returns multiple top contributors from 2021 at the wide receiver spot, including 1st Team All-MVFC selection Tyrone Scott who led the Bears with over 1,100 receiving yards and 8 receiving touchdowns. Jordan Murray and Naveon Mitchell also return for the 2022 season and the duo combined for for over 350 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns in 2021.
The Bears are coming into the 2022 season as a Top-5 team in multiple preseason polls and will look to claim their 1st ever MVFC Championship. Missouri State opens the season on the road against Central Arkansas in an interesting FCS out of conference matchup on September 1st.
