Eastern Washington has a long history of developing some of the best wide receivers in the FCS including Super Bowl MVP Cooper Kupp. The Eagles landed a major piece for the future as 3-star ATH Jani Weir announced his commitment to Eastern Washington on social media.

Weir is a standout at Skyline High School in Sammamish, WA in the Class of 2023. He currently ranks as a Top-300 wide receiver in the country and ranks as a Top-50 player in the state of Washington in the Class of 2023. The 5-foot-9, 155-pound athlete excels on both sides of the ball as a wide receiver and a cornerback. Weir also is a kick returner and was named an All-County Honorable Mention as a return specialist last season. He also received 1st Team All-County honors last season as a wide receiver and cornerback.
Zach McKinnell of The Bluebloods spoke with Weir about his commitment to Eastern Washington:
“Eastern Washington made me truly feel at home. It’s more than just football for them over there, it’s a brotherhood and a family that I wanted to be apart of. I think they’re going to put me in the best position to make a name for myself on and off the football field.”
Weir projects as a wide receiver at the next level and will look to be the next successful wide receiver to explode onto the FCS scene in Cheney, WA. He will bring excellent route running and elite athleticism to the wide receiver spot for the Eagles. He could see the field early on special teams and has the ability to make an immediate impact due to his explosiveness with the ball in his hands.
Eastern Washington now holds two commitments in the Class of 2023 as Weir joins 3-star cornerback Zion Jones. The recruiting class for the Eagles currently ranks 185th in the country and ranks Top-30 in the FCS.
